At a special meeting of the Kane County Board on February 4, the Board ratified the Chair’s nominations to fill two vacant Board seats. These new members will be sworn in at the beginning of the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 10. By statute, the members appointed to fill the positions needed to be members of the party of the member they replace.
Kimberly Young, a Democrat, will be sworn in as Board Member in District 2. She will serve through November, 2026, In the November 3 General Election, and new Board Member will be elected for District 2, to fill the remaining two years in the term of Dale Berman who passed away last fall.
Jennifer Abbatacola, a Republican will also be sworn in, as new Board Member in District 9. She will serve until the end of the term November 30, 2026. She replaces Gary Daugherty who resigned as he is moving out of the district. The District 9 term, as those for all odd-numbered districts end on November 30.
