I am proud to have represented the residents of Kane County District 13 since December 2022 and have announced my intention to stand for reelection on December 3, 2026. It seems early to declare for an election so distant in time, but candidates for the offices of Sheriff, County Clerk and Treasurer have already begun to emerge, and all candidates may begin circulating nominating petitions in early August. Kane County faces many challenges in the coming. years, and I feel I bring a logical, level-headed voice as we approach these challenges.
It is very likely that there will be an opposing candidate in the November General Election next year, but uncertain whether I will be challenged in the March Primary contest. To make either ballot, I will need to circulate nominating petitions in August and September. Legitimate signatures will come from District 13 registered voters who are Democrats as evidenced by having voted in the most recent Democratic Primary Election, or the last time they voted in a Primary Election, or by their own declaration as a Democrat with no recent Primary Election voting record. Each signatory may only sign for one candidate for any given election. The County Clerk’s office will determine the number of required signatures using a formula that uses the numbers of Democratic ballots cast in the previous Primary.
