Voting in Kane County -Register-Vote by Mail

Voting is not just a right, it is a responsibility assigned to United States Citizens, though many people don’t always vote.  In Kane County, it has been made very easy to register to vote and to place your vote.

Voter Registration

U.S. Citizens who live in Kane County may register to vote if they are at least 18 years old.  In fact 17 year-olds who will be 18 in time for the November 3 General Elecction may register now and doing so has a bonus.  As long as the 17 year old will turn 18 before the General Election can vote in the March 17, 2026 Primary Election that chooses candidates for the General Election November 3, 2026

There is also a place on the Registration pages to check the status of your registration.  Everyone should do this in advance of coming elections.

Vote by mail

Whether you are a new voter or have been voting for. years, voting in person on Election Day is an experience in seeing our democracy in action.  But sometimes it isn’t convenient, so vote-by-mail is an option.

Below is a link to the Kane County Clerk’s  Vote-by-mail page.  The top half of the page gives instructions and online links to get a mail ballot for the current election.  But scroll down the [age, and you can sign u[ to receive a mail-in ballot for all future elections.  If you do that, you can still vote in person, provided that you bring the unused mail ballot with you to the polling place.
