Early voting and mail-in voting have started, so it’s time to decide who you will support with your vote. Of course it is an individual decision, but I want to share my choices. I will include races for voters where I live, and a few nearby races that I can’t vote because of where I live.
My hands down choice is Current Governor J.B. Pritzker. (ENDORSED) He led us through COVID like nobody else could, and now he is standing up to Trump and his reign of terror.
There are at least 3 great candidates. I’m voting for Raja Krishnamoorthi. I believe that Robin Kelly and Juliana Stratton are also both well qualified.
Kwame Raoul is unopposed in the Primary Election and I support him
Alexi Giannoulias is unopposed in the Primary Election and I support him
State Senator has earned our trust Karina Villa (ENDORSED). She has brilliant ideas and fights to carry them out. Representative Stephanie Kifowit is a strong second choice
Michael W Frerichs, the incumbent is unopposed and I support his reelection
This race is filled with well qualified individuals. I can’t vote in District 8, but if I could, I like current Cook County Board Member Kevin Morrison, He has delivered for his constituents. But this is a horse race and most if not all the other candidates are well qualified.
Bill Foster (ENDORSED) is unopposed in the primary because there is no one who could match his intelligence, integrity and concern for his constituents. When I worked for the Illinois Federation of Teachers I did work around Bill’s first Congressional campaign when he won in the special election to replace now disgraced Congressman Denny Hastert. Bill has survived a couple of redistricting and continues to represent us well.
Again, I don’t live in the 14th, but I support reelection of Lauren Underwood who is unopposed in this Primary Election.
This is the seat currently held by retiring Don Dewitte. Michelle Clark is unopposed in the Primary and I support her. I can’t vote in District 33
One of the hardest working members of the Illinois State Senate Linda Holmes (ENDORSED) has earned our support. One of her most recent accomplishments is passage of the End-of-Life Options for Terminally Ill Patients Act, also known as “Deb”s Law”
Ricky Rivard (ENDORSED) is a well qualified new face in this race. He is unopposed in this Primary Election and with his platform he is well-positioned to defeat the Republican incumbent
A strong advocate for workers, Matt Hanson (ENDORSED) is unopposed in the Primary and should sail through to reelection
Republican incumbent Jack Cunningham has served the County well, but much of the innovation in the office is due to the work of Chief of Staff Brian Pollock (ENDORSED) who is well qualified and ready to lead the Clerk’s office into the future.
Undersheriff Amy Johnson (ENDORSED) has been with the Sheriff’s Office for nearly 20 years and has worked her way up from Intern to the number 2 spot. She has done it all, and is ready to bring her ideas and talents to the office.
Penny Wegman (ENDORSED) is the current County Auditor and a former Kane County Board Member. Her experience and enthusiasm make her the voters’ first choice to defeat the Republican incumbent .
District 1 : Myrna Molina is a veteran Board Member who brings experience and leadership to the Board.
District 2: In this special election to fill the seat of a deceased member, Ellen Nottke (ENDORSED) has shown energy and enthusiasm to earn a spot on the Board
District 3 Anita Marie Lewis (ENDORSED) is unopposed. Her experience on the Board and her community service make her the ideal Board Member
District 7 Alex Arroyo (ENDORSED) has been a figure in Democratic political circles and community service for at least 2o years. Prior to his appointment to fill a vacancy on the Board he was a member of the East Aurora District 131 Board of Ed.
District 11 Leslie Juby (ENDORSED) came to the Board after serving on the Geneva School Board for 12 years. She has a firm grip on understanding public finance and was instrumental in bringing the Board to agreement on a 2026 Budget that cut expenses significantly from the prior year. She does her homework and is a most valuable members.
District 13. That’s me!
District 15: Kate Monteleone is new on the scene but active in Campton Township. She has attended Board meetings regularly and is prepared to join the Board.
District 17 Deborah Allan (ENDORSED) is a veteran Board Member who brings institutional knowledge along with a sense of when it is time to change our ways. She has insight and the ability to bring other Board Members with her.on important issues.
District 19 Mohammad “Mo” Iqbal is a veteran member with a keen eye for detail. He is unopposed in the Primary and I support his reelection
District 23 Christopher W. Kious is unopposed and I support his reelection.. He has a strong sense of environmental protection and community service.
There are other Democratic candidates running unopposed for County Board Seats but in fairness I have not met them or heard anything about them, so while I certainly support the election of Democrats, I can’t in all fairness comment on their qualifications.
